By the Microsoft Office Live Small Business team
If you have set up an e-mail account with Microsoft Office Live Small Business, you can access your e-mail messages from your mobile device, giving you the freedom to send and receive e-mail messages and keep up-to-the-moment while away from your office.
The Office Live Small Business e-mail service is part of the Windows Live Hotmail e-mail service. When you set up Windows Live on your mobile device, you will be able to access your Office Live Small Business e-mail.
Note: Windows Mobile phones and devices support syncing with only one Windows Live Hotmail e-mail account. Because Office Live Small Business mail is based on Hotmail, you can sync your Windows Mobile phone with only one Office Live Small Business e-mail account. If you already sync with a Hotmail-based account, you must change the account being accessed on your phone to the account you use with Office Live Small Business.
This article describes how to access your e-mail using Microsoft Office Outlook Mobile, the Windows Live application, or your Web browser. Get your e-mail using Outlook Mobile

Access your e-mail through Outlook Mobile —one of the most popular e-mail clients for Windows Mobile phones. The familiar Microsoft Office Outlook interface simplifies your e-mailing experience on your Windows Mobile phone. You can set up, view, and access all of your e-mail accounts from a single interface, without the need to switch between applications.
You can also compose an e-mail message offline, select the e-mail account through which you prefer to send your e-mail, and pre-define how frequently you want Outlook Mobile to check for new messages on the server. Outlook Mobile automatically downloads your messages to your device, enabling you to view them even when offline.

Get your e-mail using a Windows Live application

Accessing your e-mail through the Windows Live application provides you a rich mobile experience, with access to other services as well as e-mail. We recommend that you have an unlimited data plan, as accessing these services generates data traffic which your service provider might bill you for. Also, you must be online to be able to view your e-mail messages using this application. This method of access works well if you do not require offline access to your e-mail, because your e-mail messages are not downloaded on to your Windows Mobile phone.
The Windows Live application is software for your mobile phone that offers users most features of Microsoft Hotmail in a single application. The application synchronizes your Office Live Small Business e-mail messages with Outlook Mobile, and also offers Push E-mail —which provides constant synchronization or "always-on" capability, in which new e-mail is instantly and actively transferred (or pushed) as it arrives. It is optimized for your Windows Mobile phone to provide an involved mobile experience —you can synchronize mail, and also use Windows Live Messenger.
The Office Live Small Business e-mail service is based on the popular Hotmail e-mail service. Therefore, if you have set up an Office Live Small Business e-mail account, you can access all Hotmail features.
Note:   Because Office Live is a Hotmail-based service, at any given time, you can access either your Office Live Small Business e-mail account or your Hotmail account.

Make sure you have the Windows Live application installed

Note:   The Windows Live application must be installed on your Windows Mobile phone. This application might have been installed by your Windows Mobile phone manufacturer. To check, do the following:
  1. On your device, click Start, and then locate the Windows Live application logo.
  2. If your Windows Mobile phone does not have the Windows Live application installed, you can download it on your Windows Mobile phone by entering the following URL in your phone's Web browser:http://wl.windowsmobile.com

Configure the Windows Live application for Office Live Small Business

  2. Select Windows Live.

Note:   If you have an e-mail address that belongs to a third-party domain but that was registered with Windows Live Admin Center (previously known as Window Live Custom Domains), you can access your e-mail messages in a similar manner as described above. Instead of entering any of the Windows Live domains (hotmail.com, live.com, or msn.com), you must enter your e-mail address along with your custom domain.

Get your e-mail in your browser window

If you do not subscribe to an unlimited data plan for your Windows Mobile phone, you may find that accessing your e-mail through Microsoft Internet Explorer on your Windows Mobile phone is more cost effective. Also, it is easy to use because there is virtually no configuration involved.
However, accessing your e-mail access through Internet Explorer provides a comparatively limited e-mail experience, because you must scroll frequently to access options, and the response time depends on your Internet access speed. For faster access, use Microsoft Office Outlook Mobile. With Outlook Mobile, you can download your e-mail messages on your Windows Mobile phone, and view and compose e-mail messages even when you are offline.
To access your Office Live Small Business e-mail account through Internet Explorer, do the following:
  1. On the Start menu, select Internet Explorer.
  2. In the address bar of the browser window, enter http://mobile.msn.com.
  3. On the home page, select Hotmail.
  4. From the drop-down menu, select Other e-mail address.
  5. Enter your Office Live user name and the domain in the Windows Live ID field, and then type your password.
  6. Select Sign In.
