my windows phone

Everyone has heard of Microsoft right? What about Windows 7? Ok, what about the Windows Phone 7? Aha! If you have not heard much about Microsoft's new phone, it's probably because it has not been released. The release date for this new and awesome phone is in November. In this article, I will talk about some of the mind-blowing features of this great new mobile device from Microsoft. Many know that MS has not exactly been the front-runners in the mobile phone race, but things are changing.
Email
I want to jump to one of the most brilliant features of the Windows Phone 7. It's called the Outlook Life Tile. This great feature is part of the Outlook App for the WP 7. The Outlook Life Tile lets you quickly see your important emails, flag emails, and open up a full screen view of your email.
Calendar
There is also a powerful calendar portion that allows you to view your agenda in multiple calendars. You will be able to sync your personal and work calendars effortlessly.
Have a meeting scheduled and no directions? No problem. When you open your calendar and select a particular meeting, the location-aware Windows 7 Phone presents you with a map as well as turn-by-turn directions to your meeting. How nice is that?

Microsoft Office
The Office Live Tile is the place where all of your familiar office documents come together. Need to take notes for a meeting and send them back to your office? Open Microsoft One Note, take some notes, and publish them back to your Sky Drive. Easy, right? In addition to office application use, you can access Office documents stored on your phone, or grab documents straight from a SharePoint server. The best part is that when you open a document in your Windows 7 Phone, it looks exactly like the version created on the pc.
Other Applications
Netflix
Have Netflix at home? Me too. Microsoft has worked with Netflix to develop a killer app that allows you to watch Netflix movies on your Windows 7 Phone. Not only can you watch movies, you can read a synopsis of the movie, see recently added movies, and more.
Accessories
There should be a lot of great accessories for this phone. One of the most diverse and exciting accesories will no doubt be cases and covers fpr the phone.
Summary of Features
There are too many great features of this phone to include in one article, but here are a few that should get your attention:
Relevant start screen, with all of your important stuff
Instant updates (It can easily update your fiend's statuses on social networks like Facebook and Twitter)
Contacts, photos, games, and music
Post you status once and update all networks
Find contacts quickly (alphabetical tiles)
Instant Messaging built in
Pictures from your phone, pc, and the web organized in one place
Share pictures instantly
All your music and videos from the radio, pc, and web all on your phone

Wi Fi Syncing

and more...

windows phone download

Microsoft's Windows marketplace or Zune Player doesn't allow you to download XAP files (Windows Phone apps/games file extension) directly to your PC. It makes previously downloaded Windows Phone XAP files useless as you have to re-download them in case if you've lost your precious data (syncing might help but we're considering the case where you've forgotten to sync your device with Zune). It is very troublesome for many users as Windows phone marketplace is not active in all the countries. For example Indian users have no other option but to wait for Microsoft to enable the marketplace.
In such cases it is extremely important to get WP7 apps/games directly to our PC without any interference of Zune. There is already a trick available to make Windows phone marketplace working even if it is not available in your country (hint: change the country in settings). However, we are not here to discuss on this topic. There is a nifty application available called XGENO which lets you search and download free Windows Phone XAP files directly to your PC. It is an extremely useful utility and comes to rescue of many users where marketplace is still not available.

One of the major advantage of using XGENO is that you don't even need to have Zune player or sign-in into your Windows Live ID to download apps from marketplace. This application itself is pretty simple. Its metro UI will give you a similar experience like native marketplace application on your device. Better side is that, this application is available for free to download.
How to Use XGENO
Download XGENO from the link give at the bottom of this article. Extract the zip content and run the program directly (you need not to install this program...windows 7 users should run this application as an "Administrator"). Once you've downloaded this application you need to go to "Setting" option to set the download path. Your downloaded files will be saved to this location on your PC. You need to set the path every time you launch this application. There is also a provision for Proxy server setting to download the app/game anonymously. In case if you want to download WP7 apps behind proxy, then you should enter your proxy server address in this field. Later you can use XAP installer to install or transfer the file to your Windows Phone 7. There are already few applications available in the XDA developer forum which can do the similar let you install XAP file(s).
XGENO comes in handy when you're bit skeptic about trying the application directly on your Windows Phone. You can use developer tool to run it on emulator and later you can send it to actual device. One of the down-side of using XGENO is that the application or XAP file is not saved by the application name in marketplace but rather by application ID. It is quite difficult to recognize the application by merely looking at the application ID, so you should the XAP file every time you download them. XGENO lets you download only one WP7 app at a time. At times you may feel that the app is hanging, but it is normal.
Do let us know if you're having trouble in downloading XAP files from marketplace directly.

windows phone market

Windows Mobile was once the leader in the smartphone operating system space. Over the last few years it has lost significant market share to competitor devices like Apple's iPhone and Google's Android phones, which have grown rapidly due to user demand and developer community support. According to a recent comScore report, RIM is still the most popular mobile smartphone platform in the U.S. with 42.1 percent share of U.S. smartphone subscribers, Apple ranked second with 25.4 percent share followed by Microsoft at 15.1 percent, Google at 9.0 percent and recently acquired Palm (purchased by HP) at 5.4 percent. While the iPhone continues to set new standards and maintain a healthy lead in the market share, Google's Android platform is making rapid gains in the market.

With Windows Phone 7 (WP7), Microsoft is trying to re-capture its market share in the mobile world. Its competitors have made great strides in offering outstanding user interfaces with great features and applications that have seen broad user adoption. Microsoft has acknowledged the importance of end user demand and is focusing on their user experience by creating a new user interface which focuses on information and applications that are most important to users. This 'hub' based user interface gives a fresh look to the design and is a key differentiator from the other smartphone OSes on the market. 'Live tiles' which are dynamically updated provide summarized information people are concerned most about and act as the entry points to the various hubs. The mobile version of IE on WP7 offers a significantly improved browsing experience and like most other smartphones supports multi-touch with pinch and zoom capabilities for ease of browser usability. With additional emphasis placed on social networking, music and gaming, WP7 promises to bring new competition to the top players in the smartphone market by creating a device with the look, feel and features users demand.
The next key driver in the success of smartphones is the variety of high quality third party applications easily available via an online market place. In addition to end user demand, attracting the developer community to develop apps for a device platform is crucial for success. Apple leads the application market with more than 100,000 apps (approved by Apple) in the App Store for iPhone and Google is catching up fast with over 20,000 apps in the Android Market. Microsoft will also provide its own marketplace for ISVs and third party developers to create applications. The platforms for third party applications are Silverlight and XNA that are based on.NET framework, potentially giving Microsoft an edge over its competitors considering that.NET already has a large developer base. Silverlight and XNA are rich modern frameworks that allow developers to easily and rapidly develop compelling applications and games. All the developer tools are available at no cost so developers can download, install and build a rich application in just a few minutes - this gives Microsoft a great opportunity to attract third party application developers. To date, several posts in the blogosphere indicate a positive feedback from the ISV community and third party developers, which are good signs for Microsoft.
Clearly user-friendly OS, plenty of phone applications, and a renewed focus on the consumer market are Microsoft's top priorities with WP7. It will be interesting to see what enterprise features will be available on WP7 and how traditional corporate customers will view the platform. Microsoft is counting on WP7 to be successful and help win back share in the mobile market.

Most of us use Windows PCs and have at least some experience with Windows. But how about Windows Mobile? Many don't even know about it. Some have heard but do not now the difference between a Windows Mobile device and a regular mobile phone. Below we shall describe a few tricks with which you will like your Windows Mobile phone much more (or if you do not have one, you may consider buying it).
1. How to copy/move files in Windows Mobile.
As it is not possible to display several windows at the same time in mobile devices, one cannot copy (move) files by dragging them from one window to the other. But there is a very simple way to do that using Windows' copy and paste functions. First select the file you want to copy or move in File Explorer, then choose Menu->Edit-> Copy (or Cut). Then open the folder you want to copy the file to and in the menu select Edit -> Paste. Now you have copied (or moved) your file to the new folder.
2. What to do if you get a "Not Enough Storage" message when installing a new program.

If you get a "Not enough storage" message when trying to install a new application, it may appear that there is in fact enough storage in your phone. The thing is that the storage needed to install an application is approximately double the space the application itself occupies. The reason is that the installation file also occupies space in the memory, which is approximately the same as the program size. After the installation is completed, this file can be removed. But what to do if there is not enough space for both the application and its installation file? Then one can use the phone's mini (micro) SD storage card. If the installation file has a *.cab extension (an archive file) just copy it to the memory card and run from there. In the case the installation file is an executable (*.exe) file that should be run on PC, do the following:
- First you need to establish a connection between the mobile phone and computer via cable or Bluetooth
- Run the installation *.exe file on PC
- After some time you will see a message "Please check your mobile device to see if additional steps are necessary to complete this installation", then look at the mobile phone but do not follow the instructions you will see there. Instead start File Explorer and find your installation file. It should be a *.cab file located in My Documents.
- Copy this file to the memory card (I have described above how files can be copied in Windows Mobile).
- Then switch again to the program installation screen (through Task Manager). Now you need to terminate the installation process by pressing Cancel. The *.cab file will be automatically deleted from the main memory, but you will have a copy of it on the storage card.
- Run the *.cab file from the storage card to complete the installation.
You can check My Documents folder from time to time for old *.cab files remained from previous installations. You can delete all such files if you find them.
3. Backup your phone automatically, find lost phone and do more with Microsoft ® My Phone.
With the new service called Microsoft® My Phone, available for Windows Mobile 6.x and later versions, you can backup your phone automatically, ring your lost phone (even if the ringer was turned off) and do other useful stuff.
4. Turn your smartphone into a wireless access point.
Mobile Wi-Fi Router is a program that turns Windows Mobile phone into a WiFi hotspot to connect your laptop to the Internet. Alternatively, one can pair Windows Mobile device with laptop over Bluetooth to establish an Internet connection. In that case no additional software is needed, one just needs to configure laptop to use mobile device as a modem. That is not difficult, I have described it in another article.
5. How to type text in various languages.
In touch-screen phones, one can use an on-screen keyboard to type text in various languages. According to my experience, Hikeyboard is the best program of this kind. Unlike other onscreen keyboards, it does not stop working accidentally, besides it contains layouts for many different languages, which can be installed simultaneously.
6. Searching for a string in text messages.
Although there is a search function in Windows Mobile, it does not search in text messages. To find specific text in SMS messages you can use SmartphoneFind 2.0. It can find text in any data category, like Address Book, Calendar, text messages, e-mails, etc.
7. Print documents stored in your phone.
All kinds of documents on your Windows Mobile device, like e-mails, faxes, SMS messages, Word documents, etc., can be printed using a program called PocketWhere. This program can use printers on WiFi networks, so no cable is needed.
There are many more things one can do with Windows Mobile, but these are the basic ones which will help you to substantially improve your phone's performance.

windows live phone

Windows Phone 7 marketplace is Microsoft's virtual store to download apps, games, music, TV shows, movies, podcasts-in other words, everything that makes your Windows Phone 7 more fun and useful. In this article, you'll learn how to find and buy great Windows Phone 7 apps and entertainment in Marketplace. I'll also cover the Games hub. With its strong Xbox pedigree, Windows Phone 7 is quickly shaping up to be a killer gaming machine.
You'll find Marketplace on both your phone and PC. Think of the PC version as the flagship store: It has everything Microsoft has to offer. The Marketplace hub on your phone is a branch outlet. It deals only in apps, games, and music. But the hub has the advantage of convenience, since you can shop directly on your phone. By the way, not everything in Marketplace costs money. Many apps and games are free. Some paid apps in Marketplace also let you try them before you buy them.

Speaking of games, Windows Phone is the first mobile device to fully weave in Xbox LIVE, Microsoft's hugely popular online gaming service, with more than 20 million subscribers. If you're one of them, you'll have access to your avatar, gamerscore, and other familiar Xbox goodies right on your phone. So let the fun begin!
Touring the Marketplace Hub
The Marketplace hub is one of the default tiles on your Start screen. The hub is divided into several areas, including a list of featured apps and a main menu. On the menu you can pick from Apps, Games, Music, or any custom category added by your cell-phone carrier. This screen also shows the status of items you're downloading and whether any software updates are available for apps already on your phone. Apps-short for applications-are the add-on software programs that give smartphones their smarts. Because Windows Phone 7 is the new kid on the block, only time will tell how many you'll find for it in Marketplace. But early signs look promising. Marketplace is expected to have 16 categories of apps, including books, business, entertainment, finance, games, health and fitness, lifestyle, music and video, navigation, news and weather, photos, productivity, social, sports, tools, and travel.
Caution
You need a Windows Live ID to use Marketplace. If you don't already have a Windows Live ID, you'll be prompted to create or register one the first time you try to download an app.

mobile operating systems

Rapid advancements in electronics and telecommunications technology brought about a revolution in the way people communicate. The computer, which used to be bulky and immobile, is now ubiquitously incorporated into a smartphone via mobile operating systems like the Windows Phone. Intelligent mobile computing is the current trend of mobile devices more than the basic telecommunication capabilities. Now, the consumer market get to enjoy the advanced features of this premier mobile operating system, unlike before in which the older Windows Mobile platform was aimed primarily for the enterprise market.
The Windows Phone, which was previously known as the Windows Phone 7 Series, was launched in the fourth quarter of 2010. Microsoft's latest and most advanced system features a user-friendly user interface by making use of Metro, the design language also used for the upcoming Windows 8 operating system. This overarching scheme allows end-users to transition smoothly between Windows fully functional and mobile operating systems by providing consistent style and format.

As part of Microsoft Corporation's aim for semi-open development, the Windows Phone mobile operating system integrates third-party services created by independent developers. Several Microsoft services are, of course, pre-installed in the product. Service updates can also be downloaded direct from their website. Third party services installed with this platform are even allowed to control the hardware components of the mobile device enabling a great number of possibilities and innovations.
Smartphone manufacturers like Dell, LG, and Samsung designed mobile devices that would unlock the full potential of the Windows Phone. Enhanced touch technology designed into the system allows for an overall great interface experience. In the first quarter of 2011, Nokia partners with Microsoft to manufacture mobile devices that would primarily use this system. Months later, the mobile operating system expands with more OEM partners like Acer, Fujitsu, and ZTE. This wide expansion of this system across different hardware developers ensures end-users crossover compatibility with various mobile devices from these leading manufacturers.
Windows Phone houses all the basic features to create the most comprehensive mobile devices. Aside from the innovative Metro design language, the mobile operating system has advanced text input scheme and multimedia messaging. The dominating Internet Explorer browser is also incorporated as the Internet Explorer Mobile version. Reviews on mobile devices based on this platform are mostly positive. Tips and guides are published by enthusiasts to offer support for the expanding community. This platform has been doing pretty good since its launch and received a number of awards ever since.

windows 6.1

Like other smartphones and PDAs out in the market Windows Mobile has been in demand and it conquered HTC Touch Diamond mobile phone as well. It is packed with the usual Office Mobile which consists of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Other Microsoft applications can be added depending on the user's preference.
Windows Mobile has a wide range of support for consumer and enterprise features. Like A2DP and Bluetooth keyboard support, internet sharing with a computer or laptop, third-party application support, video capture, from standard USB port to the mini-USB charging and also the commands cut, copy and paste. Drivers are not necessary when connecting USB ports or cables because of Windows Mobile's plug-and-play feature much like the one in desktop computers which makes transferring files from the mobile phone to desktop much easier and faster.

Even though Windows Mobile is still equipped with the ever famous Internet Explorer, HTC still preferred to chose a different browser. Browsing internet is done through the Opera browser. HTC and Opera have worked hand-in-hand to make sure that they bring the best in the competition.
Microsoft Outlook also lets you organize different email accounts and messages. Though it only comes in a trial version. So, better make use of it while it lasts. Aside from this, it also includes Windows Media player for listening experience and still has the same controls.
Still HTC was not contented on what Windows Mobile had to offer. They still did some customization placing Windows Mobile underneath their own user interface. But at the end of the day, Windows Mobile still is the core operating system running on the mobile phone.

Overview

The Windows Mobile 6 SDKs add documentation, sample code, header and library files, emulator images and tools to Visual Studio that let you build applications for Windows Mobile 6.

With Windows Mobile 6, we are revising our SKU taxonomy and naming to better align our brand and products with the realities of today’s mobile device marketplace. The historical form-factor based distinction between Windows Mobile powered Smartphone and Windows Mobile powered Pocket PC Phone Edition is blurring dramatically. We want our taxonomies and terminology to evolve to better reflect the evolution of the mobile device industry.

The list below summarizes the changes and the SDK that must be used when targeting the platforms (Previous Categories = New Categories):
  • Windows Mobile for Smartphone = Windows Mobile Standard (download the Windows Mobile 6 Standard SDK)
  • Windows Mobile for Pocket PC = Windows Mobile Classic (download the Windows Mobile 6 Professional SDK)
  • Windows Mobile for Pocket PC Phone Edition = Windows Mobile Professional (download the Windows Mobile 6 Professional SDK)

The Windows Mobile 6 SDKs reflect these changes in the naming of "Project Templates" and "Emulator Images".

The following emulator images are included in the SDKs:

    • Windows Mobile 6 Standard SDK
      • Windows Mobile 6 Standard (176x220 pixels - 96 dpi)

    windows mobile 5.0

It's possible that advances in the Windows Mobile OS are somewhat dependent on the gaming community.
We certainly have a few innovations that warrant a robust, stable OS capable of high-level API coding to partake of the best of the Pocket PC gaming realm.
The desktop PC owes a debt of gratitude to gamers. Unless, of course, you think that the user base was doing nothing else but playing with their MS Office apps on a routine basis.

The large drive towards hardware and processing power innovation is driven by folks largely like myself.
Video card manufacturers like ATI and nVidia have been posting record sales of high-end 3D hardware acceleration cards for years, with desktop PC gamers more than willing to pony up over $600 CDN on the next massively multipipelined hardware behemoth.
The Windows Mobile world can hardly be called a parallel gaming universe.

A lot of frustration has been thrown Microsoft's way, largely because of recent developments. The hx4700 is a case in point.
Hewlett Packard's only VGA display handheld was hampered by a revelation: no Windows Mobile 5.0 upgrade could be issued for this device until the following spring.
You'll find more details on the Brighthand.com site regarding this upgrade insight.
Problem is, the mettle of the hardcore Pocket PC game community is lacking. A recent poll off of the IPaqHQ forum site revealed that only just over five percent have opted for a Pocket PC with Windows Mobile 5.

The greater majority is still on WM 2003 Second Edition. The Pocket PC game community has spoken, and by and large they are satisfied with the game power harnessed by devices utilizing this brand of operating system.
The Windows Mobile Team Blog entry was an epiphany of sorts. Mike Calligaro's Windows Mobile article blog spoke to issues concerning disparaging Micro$oft detractors who insist on transposing those dollar signs in the middle of the company name.
    His formula is as follows:
(Total cost of doing the upgrade) / (number of people who will use it) = (unreasonable price)
In essence, he attributes our PDA gaming community upgrade woes to diseconomies of scale, not greed.
I agree with Mike's view because the dearth of hardware accelerated Pocket PC games speaks volumes.
The newer accelerated titles like GeoRally EX are less prevalent than new software rendered 3D titles like FFRace - Fast Future Race.
Even more revealing the former is targeted once again towards Axim x50v owners. If that in itself doesn't reek of a lack of PDA hardware compliancy, I don't know what does.
I've dubbed this the PlayStation 2 syndrome: just like the popular gaming console, Pocket PC game developers are catching on to making the most of the programming libraries at hand and producing top-notch games that can be used from Pocket PC 2002 onwards.
With such a broad compatibility demographic, I've already seen it; Pocket PC game production is issuing better games for common operating systems and is possible nearing its zenith for quality.
If things continue like this it will certainly put a crimp on our future Windows Mobile upgrades.

Samsung Galaxy Note Launched on O2 Deal

Samsung Galaxy Note Launched on O2 Deals. The new Samsung Galaxy Note is by far the largest screened smart phone to be released by Samsung and sets a new precedent in the market by almost crossing ove...

No, it isn’t a movie starring Ghita Muresan, but we’re still dealing with a Star!
One came from Samsung – Galaxy Note for instance, what makes us wondering if we are faceing with a Smarphone, or a small Tablet. One of my mate called it ,,tablophone”, and who knows, maybe it suites it?!
Beyond the unusual size, Note still keeps the body line of the Galaxy class with simple and sober shapes, but with a particular add: the S-Pen, an useful tool what resembles with the PDAs of a decade ago.
On a first sight, the Note is equipied with a 8MP camera, 1080p video recording with a LED flash, and a nuclear powerplant-like batery of 2500mAh. From my experience I noticed that it passed away only after 3 and a half day of heavy usage: Internet, taking photos, videos, and using as a GPS module.
On the hardware side, the exterior body size is matchet on the internal ,,soul”:  an 1.4 GHz Arm-Cortex A-9 Processor and 1 GB of RAM memory.
The Tablet-Phone’s Display is impressing for any demand: from the huge 5.3” diagonal with SuperAmoled technology, to 1200X800 pixels  resolution (full scale Tablet, isn’t it?) up to the fact that on the easel-sized display you can give reign to imagination and to the painting talent with the wonderful S-Pen. With this pen you can cut out and crop images from the Internet and edit them on a funny way, you can scribble on his sizeable ,,board” or you can take screen-captures by a push of a button.
The main menu is reminding you of his smaller cousin Galaxy S II, because Galaxy Note use the same Android Gingerbread (yet) with Touchizz 4 interface, wich assures you of simple operations and unique design.

The 16 GB of internal memory + the card slot are very useful to upload your music and video content up to 1080p, and the games, thanks to the powerful processor are very, very pleasant to play with! Asphalt 6 HD is beyond any imagination, a real blessing for gamers!
On the Internet you can surf with an ease of a Tablet, with Adobe Flash Player and 21Mbps speeds, you are aloud to swipe through pages within a blink of an eye.
You can syncronize the Calendar as you wish, and the Polar Office app helps you to view and edit your documents very useful to your office. The incorporated GPS module is proving very useful thaks to the brighted and big display, being a very trusteful friend to your long journeys.
As Samsung wanted to create the ultimate and complete device, the snaping and video recording part is without any compromise! This cameraphone has an 8MP back camera and yields very sharp images as you can see beyond. The LED flash added to the camera helps you to manage succesfuly as a photografer on the parties in night clubs.
The videos taked with this device have a maximum resolution of 1080p, at 30 frames/second. There is also present a front camera with 2MP suited for 3G/Skype calls.

In Quadrant, the results are telling everything: Galaxy Note scores 3750, a record in the real meaning!
Through Note, Samsung succeeds to create the ultimate and perfect device: a cross-over between a Smartphone and a Tablet, a new start-up by implementing the S-Pen that allows you to completely give reign to creation, top harware set, and by his abilities as a cameraphone, you can forget that there are specialized photo-video appliances.
Samsung Galaxy Note is not delicate and smooth, an not aimed to be! It is a powerful device, for powerful men, and... as its owners, it doesn’t go unnoticed!
You simplu like the Note or not! Uncompromising!
