HTC 7 Mozart - A Superb Ambassador For The Windows Phone 7 Operating System

A number of new Smartphones have recently been released to showcase the new Microsoft Windows Phone 7 operating system. Amongst them is the HTC 7 Mozart, which is a superb all rounder offering an 8 mega-pixel digital camera, large touchscreen and Wi-Fi Internet browsing.

This sleek and stylish handset looks great and measures 119x 60.2x 11.9 mm whilst weighing in at just 130 g. Its slimline profile and light weight make it comfortable to hold and use, easily fitting into a handbag or pocket. The 3.7 inch S-LCD capacitive touchscreen is highly responsive and has virtually zero lag time thanks to a fast 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It also does a fantastic job of displaying photos and videos thanks to a pixel resolution of 480x 800, displaying up to 16 million individual colours. The screen also features both proximity and accelerometer sensors as well as multi-touch input support.
Both vibration and ringing are used to alert users to incoming calls and messages, with the luxury of being able to assign MP3 and WAV files as ringtones, allowing users to customise the sound of the phone. The phone also offers SRS and Dolby Mobile Sound enhancement, along with handsfree capabilities thanks to a built in speakerphone system and 3.5 mm audio jack. The latter can be used for both handsfree headsets as well as earphones for listening to music via the internal media player. This versatile media player supports multiple music and video file formats such as MP3 and MP4. In order to store all the music tracks on the phone, there is a generous 8 GB of on board storage included as standard. Additional entertainment features include a stereo FM radio player with RDS as well as a selection of pre-installed games.
Thanks to both 3G and Wi-Fi, a fast and reliable Internet browsing experience is assured, and the full HTML browser is capable of displaying the best of the web. 3G coverage offers the primary means of connecting to the Internet, by means of an HSDPA connection providing download speeds of up to 7.2 mega bytes per second. Whenever the handset is in the same proximity as wireless Internet routers, Wi-Fi connectivity offers a faster browsing experience. GPRS & EDGE keep the HTC 7 Mozart connected to the appropriate cellular networks, whilst micro USB and Bluetooth connections are both installed as standard allowing the handset to be connected to other compatible hardware devices.
The HTC 7 Mozart also impresses as a camera phone. With an 8 mega-pixel digital camera located on the back of the handset, it is capable of taking stunning quality still images thanks to its high pixel resolution of 3264x 2448, in addition to features such as Autofocus and face detection. A Xenon flash is also provided to overcome the lighting conditions, whilst geo-tagging allows users to keep track of where they took their photos, thanks to GPS. The added bonus of being able to shoot 720p high definition video footage is also included, adding to the versatility of the camera.
With an extensive spec list, and impressive aesthetic styling, the HTC 7 Mozart looks set to be a winner, and certainly sets the benchmark for its competitors.

Microsoft has come up with a new improved mobile platform with Windows Phone 7. The new mobile platform which was recently unveiled in Taiwan is available with the Nokia Lumia series and HTC's two new phones: HD7 and Mozart.
The mobile platform is a means for Microsoft to recover lost ground in the mobile market which has drastically changed in the last three to four years. Windows Mobile 6 wasn't much of a success as the iPhone won accolades for its path-breaking design and features. Even the Android OS was touted to be an iOS killer and is indeed revving up competition.

The new offering from Microsoft which is Windows Mobile 7 is a clean break from the previous version. Windows Phone 7 has to capitalize on its features and market well and is still not an iPhone/Android killer. It can though put up a worthy fight with the biggies. The Nokia Lumia series which has Windows Mobile 7 has a touch screen keyboard which does work well and the applications which support mails, music and video are fantastic. Additionally, according to analysts, the new OS boasts of clarity and simplicity.
Windows Mobile 7 apps offer different choices to the market and differentiate from the crowd. One of the best parts of WP7 is that it supports Zune and Xbox Live integration. There are a number of third party applications related to social media like Twitter and Seesmic.
Windows Mobile 7 application development involves optimum utilization of the.NET framework. Microsoft has molded the framework for apps creation. Developers can write programs in different languages which are supported by the framework, one of them is C#. The apps are run within a runtime environment which is termed as Common Language Runtime or CLR.
One can use several approaches while developing apps for the Windows Phone 7 development. One can make use of Silverlight or one can even use the XNA framework. Silverlight was the original choice of the developers for creating rich internet applications. Silverlight is slowly becoming popular but has a long way to go to compete with other similar technologies. There has been better market adoption though in recent years. One of the developments is that Netflix is now using Silverlight to stream videos one of the most popular TV channels NBC recently used Silverlight for the broadcast of Olympic games.
On the other hand, XNA is Microsoft's own game development framework which has been widely used for making apps for Windows and Xbox 360. The XNA is almost perfectly suitable for games development.
Mobile app development company have team of skilled and experience windows phone 7 developers who develops apps for many platforms that suit for business needs.

HTC HD2 the leading Windows smartphone
The HTC HD2 is a leading Windows smartphone released in this year with features that few of its competitors can match. It is represented by a large 4.3 inch WVGA touchscreen. HTC seems is producing a smartphone with the biggest screen practical. Although it is a fairly big device, HD2 is rather slim with thickness of only 0.4 inches and weight of 5.5 ounces. You can hold it conveniently near your ear without a feeling of silly.
It is the first Windows phone with a capacitive touchscreen with design being highly similar to the iPhone. It is amazing that you can control the different functions of the phone easily with your fingertip. Other specifications of the device include a 3.5 mm headset jack, a GPS receiver, and a 5 Megapixel camera with flash.

The phone is running on Windows Mobile 6.5 Pro with a 1 GHz processor, one of the first models to do so. Its performance is definitively not disappointing during our preliminary testing. The Microsoft operating system is powerful but not always fast, fortunately the 1 GHz processor have given it a noticeable boost. The Microsoft's standard user interface - TouchFLO is being adopted but being renamed to HTC Sense. Similar to the previous model, user can find a series of finger-friendly homepages with large icons in the device. Each icons are designed for different function, such as surfing the web, checking email, Facebook, Twitter, playing music or watching video.

A Better Windows Mobile

On April 2, 2008 Microsoft unveiled its latest update for the Windows Mobile operating system. With this update - Windows Mobile 6.1 - Microsoft aims to improve upon one of the areas where Microsoft falls behind top competitors RIM's BlackBerry OS, Symbian, and the iPhone OS, namely: user-friendliness. And with such neck-and-neck competition between all the mobile OS makers, Microsoft (who's currently only unequivocally topping Palm's mobile OS) needs to do everything in its power to keep its mobile customers happy and woo the rest of the mobile community their way.

Simplification was paramount in designing Windows Mobile 6.1, with less cluttered, more task oriented screens, modeled after the successful Windows Media Centre. Among the improvements are:
  • more readable font;
  • threading of SMS and email messages (much like on the iPhone), instead of displaying them all on a single screen;
  • cut-and-paste on non-touch screen smartphones (on Windows Mobile smartphones with touch screens, cut-and-paste already works);
  • new Vista-like interface for the Home screen that uses horizontal tiles which expand when clicked to reveal more detailed information;
  • a dedicated task manager that displays CPU usage listed by process and overall as a whole;
  • ability to change the Master Security Code;
  • Recent Programs displayed when the Start menu is pressed;
  • a total re-haul of the system's web browser, with a display that looks more like Internet Explorer or other PC web browsers, with the entire web page able to be viewed on a single screen or in segments by zooming in to user-selected areas;
  • auto-complete of email addresses entered into the "To:" field;
  • ActiveSync Exchange email auto-configuring;
  • Wi-Fi status indicator.
Business users will also enjoy the ability to enroll a domain in Settings, allowing for mobile access to various company resources.
On the downside, Windows Mobile 6.1 (like its predecessor) can only be used with a keyboard or a stylus - even the Windows Mobile touch screen phones. Microsoft still hasn't made it so that people can use their mobile OS by simply touching their screens with fingers alone (even though Apple seems already to have mastered it).
Current users of certain Windows Mobile 6 smartphones - like the AT&T Tilt and the HTC Mogul - will be able to upgrade their mobile OS to Windows Mobile 6.1. One of the first new smartphones already bundled with Windows Mobile 6.1 is the WiFi-enabled Motorola Q9.
Devices running on Windows Mobile 6.1 are scheduled to start shipping in May.

What Are the User Benefits in the Latest Windows Mobile 6.1 Release?

Microsoft have recently released Windows Mobile 6.1 (WM6.1), the operating system (OS) is seen as a minor upgrade to the previous Windows Mobile 6.0 platform, but what are the user benefits...
The main aesthetic update is regarding the home screen, providing the ability to navigate via horizontal tiles that can be expanded when selected to deliver further information to the user. In addition the home screen provides the user with information panels allowing the user to quickly view up to date instant information such as missed calls, upcoming appointments and new messages, plus accessing music and photo sharing.

A benefit perhaps geared towards the consumer rather than business market is the threaded SMS function, this provides the ability to link or merge messages from a recipient. This is similar to a chat or Windows Live Messenger function we may well be used to, this eliminates the need to open and close previous messages when composing and replying to contacts. Depending on your business model this may have a benefit but I would expect this to be particularly beneficial to consumers and or social device users, never the less an area that is likely to grow as Windows Mobile expands into the consumer marketplace.
An updated version of Internet Explorer Mobile provides users with higher quality web browsing via iPhone-like pan and zoom functionality; this will make for an improved user experience.
I would suggest less a benefit more a status enhancement, users familiar with receiving and sending emails from BlackBerry (RIM) devices will recognise the automatic insertion of a signature quoting:
"Sent from my BlackBerry wireless email device" (or similar), Windows Mobile 6.1 adopts a "Sent from my Windows Mobile phone". From a manufacturer, sales or company perspective I view this as a good inclusion, it spreads the brand and demonstrates to the recipient that you are using the latest technology, i.e. moving with the times...

What Does This Mean To You?
The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is the world's largest technology expo and showcases the latest (or future) products from thousands of companies, covering well over a million square feet of display space. As in every other year, it was held this year in Las Vegas, NV from Jan 8-11, attracting people from over 130 countries.
Bill Gates, the richest man in the world, and the most known name in technology, started the show with his customary keynote speech. He covered many subjects, including the new Microsoft operating system Vista and placed special emphasis on integrating home and work technologies.
Bill Gates was followed by many other experts of the tech industry with their speeches and presentations.
Macworld opened up with a keynote from Apple CEO Steve Jobs, introducing the long awaited iPhone - a unit that integrates phone, web, and the ever so popular iPod with a bunch of other applications (supposedly) running a Mac OS X operating system. Most notably with his rock star personality Mr. Jobs stole all the thunder from Mr. Gates and CES with the new "gadget" that is not even available to the public until the second half of the year.

This Apple iPhone is the most talked about "gadget" of the year so far, no doubt topping many wish lists. In the US, it is supposed to be available through the wireless provider Cingular with a 2-year contract for $499 (4GB) and $599 (8GB).
There are several European websites taking pre-orders without a wireless contract, sometimes topping prices of $1,200. Several law suits have been filed against Apple for copyright violations and some analysts say the original shipping date may be delayed due to this. There is a device, introduced last year, that won many awards and, according to many who have seen it, looks and performs identical to the Apple device.
We can learn a lot from this experience. Apple is known for this type of "minimalization". They understand consumer wants and needs, and their emotional attachment to gadgets. Their design is based on usability, and not so much on all the bells and whistles. They understand most people want their product to work and they want to feel good about what they purchased. They are also very good at finding out what most people want as features. Then they design their products so that a customer will have very little trouble using it. The product is then introduced to the market with an exceptional presentation creating customer evangelists.
With all the controversy, though, will the positive Apple trend continue when the iPhone hits the market?

how to update your android phone

Taking photos is easy nowadays. Many phones, actually most of them, have cameras and well, if you want to take a snap all you need to do is access your camera on your smartphone, focus and click right? Of course, you will have your photo but how is the quality of that photo? With an Android phone you can take better shots at night, change its background to a blur and so much more.
Your phone's hardware and software may affect quality of your photos and they vary from one phone model to the other. The software in your phone may unlock more manual controls which can aid you in terms of advanced photography. Always update your phone and explore other camera settings and see what they feature. Consider the following tips and experience great photography.
Even in day time, use the flash
The flash provides a burst to stand in for shadows and areas with low exposure especially on sunny days; it's like your secret recipe to a great meal so use it. During day time, the flash may help to improve the appearance of the subject. For instance the cheeks may need highlighting; the forehead or the area around the eyes may need adjustments if they appear too dark.

Camera smartphones tend to set exposure on bright areas leading to much darkened shadows. You can automatically or manually turn on the flash and it will pop up details when you are within a few feet. Remember to keep close to your subject. You may use the fill flash when there are backlit subjects. If the subject is dark for instance, you may consider avoiding a sunset background or a colorful sky but instead light up the foreground with the flash.
For better night shots, adjust the ISO settings
Try and make use of whatever light is available because using a harsh flat light might blow out your images while mere weak flashes might not cut it. Ask the subject to be still and if it's difficult for you to be still, use the phones stabilizer application settings. Even if parts of the image are blurred you can improve on them by using other tools. A camera phone's ISO setting on film speed are more or less like those on a standard camera. The higher the number the more sensitive it is to light but it can also be noisy and also interferes with the color. Exercise with your camera phone to get acquainted with it.
Try not to use the Digital Zoom
A camera phone cannot move its lens and be able to magnify or zoom images but instead it has a digital zoom. Though the zooming function is there you should rarely use it because instead of capturing the finer details, it blows up the image. If you wish to edit the image, you can do so later on a PC or by an image editor, but you can't reverse zooming on an already taken photo. Walk closer to your subject if the subject cannot do so to fill the frame. It is still recommended to avoid the zooming even if the subject is a bit far and moving such as when trying to photograph a celebrity who may not necessarily be posing. Take the shot and edit it later.
With good lighting come great photos
Great lighting can make even an image taken by any phone look great and so keep in mind that lighting is important when taking photos. The light should be at your back and ask you're subject to reposition if you are facing the sun. If possible use the three lights; key light, a fill light and a back light to illuminate the scenes. From the camera which is nearest comes the key light; the fill light is lit to soften shadows and the back light as the name suggests lights the back or far side to give the scene some sense of depth. When indoors you may use light from the windows as key and fill light and a lamp for the back light. The camera will do the bright light so avoid other bright sources.
Those few tips should help you achieve quality images with your android phone and having fun while doing it.

droid phone update

So, if you're like many users of an Android phone ("Droid") - I have a HTC EVO - you may have found it difficult to figure out how to update your business Facebook page via any of the available Facebook applications on your phone.
Many people resort to going to the web browser and taking the painstaking time to wait for new pages to load and slowly get to their business page to update it in their web browser on their mobile.
But... did you know there was an easier way?
It's so simple, you'll be shocked that you didn't do it sooner!
I'll walk you through step by step on how to make updating your Facebook Fan Page when on the go easy and fast!

I recommend following these 'setup' steps while at your computer and then you will be free and easy on your Droid mobile device
  1. First, you will want to login to Facebook just like you always do.
  2. Then, you will access your Fan Page by navigating on the left to your 'Pages' and then selecting the Fan Page you want to activate with your mobile device
  3. Once you are on your Fan Page, click 'edit page
  4. When you are in 'edit' mode on your Fan Page, you will have a navigation bar to your left. Click 'Mobile'
  5. You have some options and you can choose to setup one or more per your preference:
    • With Mobile Email - there is an email address listed with instructions to save it in your phone. With this unique email address you can simply update your Fan Page Status by sending an email to this address. The complete subject line is the post to your wall; if you want to upload an image you attach it to the email. The body of the email should be left blank (I have not tested this, but I would suggest deleting an automated signature if you use one on your phone, as the instructions indicate the body of the email should be blank)
    • With SMS Messaging - you can also setup SMS messaging and update your Facebook Fan Page by SMS Text. To do this, you will select "sign up for SMS," select your carrier, send a text message with the letter 'F' to Facebook at 32665 (FBOOK) *note the instructions may be confusing regarding the SMS number to text to as it is listed with (FBOOK) after the number; all you need to send to is the number 32665; you will get a message back with a code; enter the code; and you're activated! One important thing to note regarding the SMS Messaging is that if you set this up for your personal page, too, updates/posts via SMS will duplicate on your personal and your Fan Page. To avoid this, use SMS for only either your Fan Page or your Personal page (do not set it up for both)
  6. Lastly, send a test via your mobile Android to your Facebook Fan Page and see how it works!
Have fun!
