Mobile Phone Operating Systems

Mobile phones are really undergoing explosive development. One can practically experience everything including internet, banking, credit card operations and eCommerce, today through mobile phones. New mobile phones take pride in their advanced mobile operating system software.
The earlier mobile phones were considered luxurious if they sported music players and cameras. But today mere music and camera are considered outdated in a mobile device. Operating Systems arrived in a big way for these handheld devices and changed the whole game.
These devices got sleeker and smarter by the day. High resolution cameras, Hi-speed internet, 3G operations and many more new generation applications have been enabled in today's mobile phones. Progressing from the early Linux and the later Windows Mobile OS, today's Operating Systems like Symbian, Android, iOS etc vie with each other in bringing great computing power to these miniscule devices.
Let us have a brief look at the prevailing Mobile operating systems.
1. Blackberry OS by RIM
Research In Motion or RIM pioneered the smart phone development and brought out this Blackberry OS highlighted by easy UI and navigation. Even today this rules supreme.
2. Android OS by Google
Developed by a tiny development company, Google swallowed up this company and owned the Android OS which has today evolved into an advanced mobile OS.
3. Symbian OS by Symbian Foundation
Symbian today is the direct competitor to Android and Apple's iOS. Symbian is in a continuous process of development. Symbian OS has been hugely patronized by Nokia, the leading mobile handset manufacturer worldwide.
4. iOS by Apple
Apple made a belated entry into the smart phone segment and today has scored heavily with their Apple iPhone featuring Apple's in house OS, iOS. Apple continues to lead this smart phone segment with more stunning developments to come.

5. Windows OS by Microsoft
Microsoft finally graduated from the Windows Mobile OS and launched their latest Windows OS through their Windows 7 phone.
6. webOS by HP
This is an OS mounted on a Linux base, originally developed by Palm and now acquired by HP.
7. Bada OS by Samsung
Developed by Samsung through its own R&D, this OS is expected to fulfill Samsung's craving for a proprietary OS.
8. Brew OS by Qualcomm
Brew OS has been running in most mobile handsets without being branded as such. Brew has now only revealed its existence behind many top brands of mobile phones.
Whatever be the OS, their purpose has been to revolutionize the concept and functional capabilities of mobile phones. This they have successfully achieved to a very great extent. In the next few years to come, Mobile OS would play a game-changing role in the evolution of Mobile handsets.
