While Windows remains to be the operating system of choice among computer users, the same cannot be said when it comes to mobile phones, as the Windows phones have been lagging in the market behind the other well-known brands. Together with HTC, Microsoft releases the Titan mobile phone as an attempt to put Windows phones on the map as some of the best smartphones to date. This article takes a look at the features of the Titan mobile phone.
Design
It's easy to see why the phone has been named so: coming in at 131.5 mm x 70.07 mm x 9.9 mm, the Titan is definitely one of the biggest phones that have been released in the market. In spite of its large size, the HTC Titan isn't heavy, coming in at just 160 g. The large size of the smartphone is due to the fact that it has a 4.7-inch screen with a resolution of 480 x 800 px, making for a great display with its rich colors and deep blacks.

The phone comes in a two-tone gray metal case, the surface on the back of which bears a Windows Phone logo.
Build
The HTC Titan has a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. While this doesn't sound impressive since other phones now boast of having dual-core processors, the processor is powerful enough to be able to handle just about anything and everything you throw at it, even when you do multitasking. The HTC Titan mobile phone has 512 mb of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. Currently, it's not possible to expand the memory of the phone because of its operating system.
The HTC Titan comes with an 8 mp camera with dual LED flashes and autofocus. The camera can take pictures with a resolution of 3264 x 2448. The camera has a back-illuminated sensor, allowing you to get great images even with poor lighting. The camera also has a front-facing camera with at 1.3 megapixels, great for those who prefer going on video calls.
The HTC Titan comes with a Li-Ion 1,600mAh standard battery that gives you a talk time for up to 11 hours and 50 minutes for 2G (6 hours 50 minutes for 3G) and 360 hours standing time for 2G (460 hours for 3G). A microUSB port appears on the left side of the HTC Titan for charging.
Functionality
While its design and build are pretty good, what makes HTC Titan stand out is its operating system. In the past, Windows phones were criticized for poor performance. Windows 7.5 Mango is the latest OS released by Microsoft, and its interface and features make it apparent that the company exerted a lot of effort into producing this. Unlike its predecessors, Windows 7.5 Mango supports multi-tasking, allowing you to open several apps at the same time. Pressing the Back button allows you to scroll through the open apps without any problems. The apps in themselves have been integrated seamlessly with the system, making for a brand-new smartphone experience.
The HTC Titan mobile phone is aptly named, not only because of its large size, but also because it is pretty powerful. It has solid features all-around, so it's definitely worth investing on, especially if you want to have a phone with a large screen in your hands.
The cheapest way to get the handset is with a HTC Titan contract or the new HTC Sensation XE contract.
