With mobile phones becoming a necessity, it is very predictable that the mobile phone market can never go out of business. Knowing this several mobile operator companies keep developing new technology mobile phones with an upgraded feature every time. Every now and then a new king of mobile phone is introduced in the market to compete with others and capture its own share in the mobile phone market.
As per statistics about 80 percent of the global mobile phone market is captured by basic mobile phones and multimedia mobile phones. The rest 20 percent is occupied by smart phones. The major mobile operator companies who have the biggest share in the market are Nokia: about 36% to 37 %, Samsung: 21% to 22%, LG: 9% to 10% RIM: about 3 % and Sony Ericsson: about 3%. There are several other famous manufacturers also like Blackberry, Apple Inc., HTC but their overall mobile market share is very limited.
Talking about smart phone market share, the biggest market share holders include Symbian, Android, Apple, RIM and windows mobile. The manufacturers of windows operating system, Microsoft Corp. are the major manufacturers of Operating systems worldwide but they fall at number five in the mobile phone market share. Microsoft Corp.s earlier version of mobile operating system like Windows Mobile 7 was not compatible with many devices hence it did not got a good response and failed to capture its mobile market share. The present version of Windows Mobile 7 is known as windows mobile 6.5 but this also has a very small and limited share in the market.
In order to make a mark in the mobile operate system, Microsoft Corp. in association with major mobile operator HTC Ltd., have launched a new smart phone which is named Windows Phone HTC HD 7. It has an advanced mobile operating system called Windows Phone 7 which has a resemblance to its desktop version. Windows Phone 7 utilizes user Interface (UI) technology which makes this smart phone really smart. Microsoft and HTC are expecting to capture a big share of the Mobile phone market after the launch of Windows Phone HTC HD 7.
