Whats MiFi hotspot?

The mobile Wi-Fi hotspot device is called a MiFi Hotspot. It turns 3G signal from your SIM card into Wi-Fi signal and create your own Wi-Fi hotspot. This means you can connect up to five different Wi-Fi enabled devices to the internet at once. So while youre checking emails on your laptop you can download apps on your iPad or smartphone.

Smartphones MiFi hotspot

Most people may know the MiFi mobile hotspot of Smartphones, as most of the high-end 3G cell phone contains the personal hotspot feature which enables their phone into a personal WiFi hotspot, take iPhone 4 as an example, when you turn on the personal hotspot feature, the WiFi devices around you could detect the hotspot, and if there is no WiFi password, they can connect to internet by your hotspot directly.

The disadvantage of Smartphones MiFi hotspot
  1. Multi-user: 2-3 users supported
  2. Connection speed: up to 1M
  3. Battery life: Use the personal hotspot will decrease your phones battery life.

Professional MiFi mobile hotspot router

Now, more and more people start to use the MiFi hotspot router which looks like a MP4 player or walkman. You just need to insert the SIM Card, and power up the device, then the WiFi signal will appear on your WiFi devices like iPad, laptop and PSP.

(Check the ZTE MiFi mobile hospot demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyEuJB2Za5I )

Note: Most MiFi devices are for sale with the carriers plan, if you want to use the MiFi hotspot unlimitedly you can Google the unlocked MiFi, as there are many online stores (such as www.modem3g.com ) offer the unlimited MiFi for users.

Compare with cell phones MiFi hotspot
  1. Multi-user: At least for 6 users, up to 20 users
  2. Connection speed: 7.2Mbps to 42Mbps
  3. Up to 4 hours of battery usage with 40 hours standby.
  4. Connect from 30-40 feet away.

So, these two MiFi hotspots contains their own goods and bads, and which one is more suit you depends on the usage, if you just use it for personal hotspot to download email or Web Browsing with 2 or 3 of your friends, its enough. But if you want to use it for a mini-conference outside of the office, watch HD movie, play video game online or video call like Facetime, the professional MiFi hotspot router would be better.

windows phone review

In the month of October, HTC launched three Windows Phone 7 handsets, one of which was the HTC 7 Mozart that offers surround sound experience for video and audio playback. The phone is powered by 1GHz Snapdragon processor by Qualcomm which powers a 3.7-inch screen packing 480x800 pixels and an 8 mega-pixel camera at the back with Xenon flash that shoots 720p video.
This model from HTC has focus on high fidelity audio and offers SRS WOW HD - an audio enhancement feature that makes the sound wider and provides great bass to the music you hear. Compared to the HTC HD7 and 7 Trophy, the Mozart is smaller in size, but has better camera (8MP vs 5MP).
This HTC handset comes with built-in 8GB of internal storage so you will be stuck with that capacity forever. On the front of the handset, you will find Back, Menu and Search buttons that look very smart and elegant. On the top, you will find a 3.5mm headphone jack and power button. It feels great and sturdy in the hands, thanks to its brushed aluminum casing.
User Interface
People who have used Windows Mobile 6.x devices in the past will find the interface to be radically different from what they are used to. Old users will not find boring Windows 2000-like menus since the HTC 7 Mozart boasts a world of titles and gorgeous typography. The home screen is dynamic and is always changing showing you live information from your contacts and pictures stored in your handset. The new Windows Phone 7 lets you pin applications, contacts, Internet shortcuts and so on. You can re-arrange them if you like by simply long-tapping them and then dragging them to their new place. Applications that are not pinned are stored in a separate screen which can be accessed by a simple right swipe.

To install applications on your Windows Phone 7 device, you will need to open the Marketplace app. To login, all you need is a Windows Live account. Facebook functionality is built right into the device. "People" application is essentially, the Facebook. If you scroll to the right, you will be able to see your friends' updates and comments.
Call Quality is really good on the Mozart, almost at par with the iPhone 4. In my tests, voice quality was great at both ends.
Internet
All Windows Phone 7 devices come with "Internet Explorer for Mobile" application. Loading speeds are pretty good and pages render correctly, just as they do on a desktop. Pinch-to-zoom and tap browsing functionality is also available. In other words, no complaints in this department.
Camera
I found the camera quality a bit better than the one found on the iPhone 4. However, I do miss the touch-to-focus I enjoy on my iPhone 4. That said, auto-focus works well.
Flash works well and is bright enough to evenly lit a dark room. As said earlier in this review, the HTC 7 Mozart shoots 720p video as well. Frankly speaking, it does not even comes close to the one found on the iPhone 4.
Battery Life
It comes with a 1300mAh Lithium-ion battery and HTC claims that it can give you up to 330 minutes with 435 hours of standby time. I barely got a full day with moderate usage which involved 30 minute web surfing via Wi-Fi, 30 minute web surfing via 3G, an hour of calls and few messages.
Conclusion
Even though Windows Phone 7 has a long way to go, this HTC device has really impressed me. I loved the live tiles and its unique user interface. The camera produces great pictures but so-so videos. So, would I recommend getting one? Yes, definitely!

windows mobile phone 7

In February 2010, Microsoft treated the public to a preview of their new mobile phone operating system to finally prove that what Windows Mobile failed at - that they are able to do mobile operating systems as well as they do PC operating systems. At the time the software was impressive looking and obviously had potential, but the press were skeptical. Fast forward to October 2010 and the final v1.0 of Microsoft Windows Phone 7 was released.
For the new operating system, Microsoft had decided that the previous Windows Mobile platform had reached the end of its life and terminated development in favor of an all new system. With WP7, Microsoft decided to target the consumer market solely, as opposed to the enterprise market that Windows Mobile was previously aimed at. This meant that more had to be done to support popular and fashionable functions such as social networking support and touch screen capability, which it seems it has achieved.
What makes the Windows Phone 7 operating system so good is its fantastic visual interface that is just as easy to use as competing operating systems from Google and Apple. Page transitions are fast and smooth and it is able to integrate compatibility with Microsoft's Xbox Live and the Microsoft Zune entertainment platform and portable music player. WP7 also uses social networking functions to great effect, with the ability to be in constant synchronization with your Hotmail, Google, Facebook and of course MSN contacts, plus emails and notifications from each.
Some reports have suggested that Microsoft have been working on an updated mobile phone platform since 2004 but each one has been scrapped and some even being adapted into Windows Mobile updates. It has been confirmed, though, that in actual fact the Windows Phone 7 OS has only been in development for a relatively short period since 2008, when Microsoft first recognized that the Windows Mobile platform needed too much work. Ultimately this has meant that although it is a great OS, WP7 is still at least a years development behind Android and iOS4.
The Microsoft Windows Phone 7 operating system is a great looking, fast and capable interface with some very useful integrated functions. The camera software works very well and is easy to use and online browsing is simple and quick. Though what this OS really needs is another few months of updates to bring it right up to speed and therefore able to really compete against Apple and Google. What is good to hear is that Microsoft seems to be in it for the long haul, and with a good base to start with, things can only get better for WP7.

windows mobile games

Totem Star Lite is available for free directly from the developers website (Touch Dimensions). Where you can download the game as a .cab file for your phone. The game in cab format can be either downloaded directly to your device or copied over via your operating system with Active Sync or Bluetooth. This piece of software needs you have MS .NET Compact Framework 3.5 installed on your Windows mobile 6.1 or 6.5 device. You can get it by searching around in Google or any other search engine and the Microsoft site.
This WVGA Games that was previously known as "Dream Catcher Lite" but for unknown reason was renamed to Totem Star Lite. In this game you lead the destiny of your fellow tribesmen through the stars or so according to the creators of the game. The game is set in the Native American desert sunset. The goal of the game is to Lasso stars of similar color or shape. You can also make combination in as the authors say - 'an infinite variety of patterns' which in reality will is quite finite. But there are plenty combinations possible and a lot to be found out in the game play.
Totem Star Lite is easy to start playing, but you will soon discover that the game is much deeper as it seems to be from the start. The goal of the game is to make a lot of patterns from the stars that spawn randomly in the game area. The combinations can be found in the bottom right corner of the screen. Just below a totem pole that you have to fill up to have your fellow tribesmen create more structures, which results into a new goal and a better high score.
Sometimes a certain star color is not available and you can make combinations to force it to spawn and complete your goal. The combinations you can make in the game can be read on Touch Dimensions website which you can locate through any search engine.
The game play is fun, and keeps you entertained for quite some time. The background tunes are is very nice and the entire atmosphere of the game is just perfect. These days finger friendly applications and games are really hot. But because of how the game is made it's often better to use the stylus. This is because you have to draw patterns between sometimes close by stars and having your finger in the way does more harm than good. The game is fine to play with your finger as long as you are not that bothered with getting the best high score that while playing with a finger. In the options menu of the game you can see your current best score and toggle between music/sound enabled or disabled. Other than that it's just a great entertaining WVGA game that works perfectly on all devices it was tested on, VGA, QVGA, WQVGA, WVGA and more. Make sure you try out this great and best of all - free game.
I've been playing Windows Mobile games since a decade even when it was first called pocket PC instead of Windows Mobile. From my experience there is a lot of bad games available but some great gems to be found. I take pleasure in reviewing these games, and hope you do too.

windows mobile 6.1

Microsoft have recently released Windows Mobile 6.1 (WM6.1), the operating system (OS) is seen as a minor upgrade to the previous Windows Mobile 6.0 platform, but what are the user benefits...
The main aesthetic update is regarding the home screen, providing the ability to navigate via horizontal tiles that can be expanded when selected to deliver further information to the user. In addition the home screen provides the user with information panels allowing the user to quickly view up to date instant information such as missed calls, upcoming appointments and new messages, plus accessing music and photo sharing.
A benefit perhaps geared towards the consumer rather than business market is the threaded SMS function, this provides the ability to link or merge messages from a recipient. This is similar to a chat or Windows Live Messenger function we may well be used to, this eliminates the need to open and close previous messages when composing and replying to contacts. Depending on your business model this may have a benefit but I would expect this to be particularly beneficial to consumers and or social device users, never the less an area that is likely to grow as Windows Mobile expands into the consumer marketplace.
An updated version of Internet Explorer Mobile provides users with higher quality web browsing via iPhone-like pan and zoom functionality; this will make for an improved user experience.
I would suggest less a benefit more a status enhancement, users familiar with receiving and sending emails from BlackBerry (RIM) devices will recognise the automatic insertion of a signature quoting:
"Sent from my BlackBerry wireless email device" (or similar), Windows Mobile 6.1 adopts a "Sent from my Windows Mobile phone". From a manufacturer, sales or company perspective I view this as a good inclusion, it spreads the brand and demonstrates to the recipient that you are using the latest technology, i.e. moving with the times...
I am now in my 10th year working within the mobile voice and data communications industry. Having successfully worked with and advised a large number of local, SME and key corporate clients around the UK.
